My review of the Brava smart oven
Many years ago, I asked a friend of mine the following question: “How many hamburgers should I be able to make with a five-pound chub of ground beef?” He did some quick mental math and answered, “Maybe around fifteen. How many did you make?” My answer: “Eight.”
I’ve learned that figuring out what to eat is much more complicated than choosing what tastes good and eating until I’m satisfied. Long-time readers will know this strategy hasn’t quite worked out for me. Fast food is on every corner, and food delivery is just a few touches away. Ideally, I should prepare my meals, and the process starts at the grocery store.
I know to avoid all the processed and packaged foods. I know how to select vegetables (begrudgingly) and proteins. I know how to read food labels. I learned through apps like Yuka, which allows you to scan the bar codes of items with your phone to show you a rating based on macronutrients and ingredients. Another great app is EWG’s Healthy Living app, which helps you evaluate personal care products. Want to bet that you have some items in your house that are on the naughty list?
